Product Description
NV-SiAC2081 series is an asymmetric end-functionalized polydimethylsiloxane fluid featuring a butyl end group and a terminal methacrylate-functional group. The reactive methacrylate end-group can participate in free-radical polymerization under suitable curing conditions, such as UV or thermal curing systems, helping to incorporate the silicone segment into compatible polymer networks. This may reduce additive migration or blooming and improve surface properties, depending on the formulation and curing conditions. The butyl end group helps optimize steric hindrance and surface energy, contributing to good surface activity, compatibility and reactivity.

Key Benefits & Features
High Reactivity: Contains a terminal methacrylate group that can copolymerize with acrylics, unsaturated polyesters and vinyl monomers in suitable free-radical curing systems, helping to anchor the silicone segment into the polymer network and reduce migration or blooming.
Ultra-Low Volatiles: Total volatiles are controlled at ≤1.0% under the stated test conditions, supporting formulations with low VOC and low odor requirements.
Superior Surface Performance: Effectively reduces surface tension to improve leveling, wetting, slip, scratch/mar resistance and water/oil repellency.
Enhanced Compatibility: The asymmetric molecular structure balances silicone surface benefits with compatibility in selected organic resin systems, helping to reduce haze or cratering often associated with conventional silicone additives.
Note: Actual performance depends on resin chemistry, dosage, curing conditions and overall formulation design.
Applications
UV-Curable Coatings and Inks: Functions as a reactive leveling and slip agent in compatible UV-curable systems, helping to improve surface lubricity, mar resistance and leveling.
Industrial Coatings and Protective Finishes: May help enhance weatherability, anti-soiling performance, and hydrophobic/oleophobic properties, depending on coating formulation and curing conditions.
Specialty Lubricants and Surface Modifiers: Potentially suitable for applications requiring reduced friction and improved surface lubricity; performance should be evaluated under application-specific conditions.
Polymer Modification: Can be used as a reactive silicone macromonomer in suitable free-radical polymerization systems to introduce silicone segments into acrylic resins, polyurethanes and other compatible polymer backbones.
Application Guide
Recommended Dosage: The recommended starting dosage is 0.1–2.0% by weight of the total formulation. The optimum dosage should be determined through formulation-specific trials.
Compatibility, curing behavior, surface appearance, adhesion, recoatability, and migration resistance should be evaluated before commercial application. The appropriate addition stage should be determined according to the formulation and manufacturing process.
