Chemical Information

Main components: Mono-terminated Bis-hydroxyethoxypropyl Polydimethylsiloxane

CAS No.:-

Chemical Character: Mono-functional Silicone Macromonomer (Diol-terminated)

Molecular Structure: (CH3)3SiO - [Si(CH3)2O]n - Si(CH3)2-CH-2CH(CH2OCH2CH2OH)2

Product Description

Unlike traditional hydrolyzable Si-O-C bound carbinol silicones, it features robust Si-C (silicon-carbon) bonds linking the hydroxyethoxypropyl functional groups to the siloxane backbone. This unique structural design not only provides high hydrolytic stability—resisting cleavage by water, acids, or bases to ensure the modified network retains its performance over time—but also leverages the terminal −CH2OH groups for high reactivity. These primary alcohol groups react more readily with isocyanates (−NCO ), carboxylic acids (−COOH ), acid anhydrides, and epoxies compared to secondary or phenolic hydroxyls. By marrying the inherent performance of siloxanes with the reactive versatility of primary alcohols, NV-SICB2050 series serves as a high-performance reactive intermediate or permanent modifier for polyurethane, epoxy, and polyester systems.

Key Benefits & Features

Superior Optical Clarity: Specifically optimized for transparent polyurethane systems; the mono-pendant structure ensures minimal haze and excellent phase compatibility within the polymer matrix.

Pendant Side-Chain Modification: Acts as a reactive "silicone tail" that grafts onto the resin backbone. This provides surface-active properties without the high cross-linking density that can make resins brittle.

Permanent Non-Migrating Surface: Chemically bonds into the matrix to provide lasting slip, water repellency, and anti-smudge effects that will not wash off or "bleed" over time.

Internal Lubrication & Flexibility: Enhances the mar resistance and low-temperature impact strength of the final plastic or coating.

Applications

Transparent Polyurethane (PU) & PUDs: The core application for DK-10T15. Used to produce high-clarity PU films, coatings, and elastomers with enhanced hand-feel and water resistance.

Resin Grafting (Acrylics & Polyesters): Serves as a macromonomer to create silicone-modified resins for automotive topcoats, high-end furniture paints, and electronic packaging.

Leather & Textile Finishing: Imparts a durable, silky "silicone touch" to leather and premium fabrics through chemical attachment.

Surface Control Additive: Added during synthesis to lower the coefficient of friction (COF) and provide anti-blocking properties to specialty films.

Application Guide

Stoichiometry: When designing PU pre-polymers, calculate the isocyanate (NCO) demand based on the Hydroxyl Value. Note that each molecule provides two reaction sites at one end.

Dosage: For surface modification, a loading of 1%–10%wt is typical. For structural modification in elastomers, higher loadings may be used.

Compatibility: Excellent compatibility with organic polyols and common solvents like MEK, Ethyl Acetate, and Toluene.

Handling & Precautions

Storage: Store in original, tightly sealed containers in a cool 5℃--30℃, dry environment. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat.

Moisture Sensitivity: Primary hydroxyl groups are hygroscopic. Reseal containers immediately after use. Nitrogen blanketing is recommended for long-term storage of opened containers.

Safety: Wear standard PPE (gloves and safety goggles). Avoid prolonged skin contact.

Shelf Life: 12 months from manufacture date in unopened original packaging.
