Product Description
NV-DF4100 is a 100% active, nonionic multifunctional Gemini siloxane surfactant designed to bridge the performance gap between traditional silicone surfactants and acetylenic diols. Featuring a unique dual-core (twin-hydrophobic) siloxane backbone, it aligns instantly at interfaces to achieve ultra-low surface tension (~21 dynes/cm). This makes it highly effective at eradicating craters, fisheyes, and crawling on difficult-to-wet substrates or low-energy plastics.
Crucially, NV-DF4100 delivers these superior wetting properties with a highly defoaming character, ensuring it does not stabilize macro-foam or trap micro-foam during high-speed waterborne formulations.
Key Benefits & Features
Extreme Surface Tension Reduction: Lowers static surface tension down to ~21 dynes/cm, significantly surpassing traditional nonionic or standard polyether-modified silicone alternatives.
Outstanding Anti-Crater Efficiency: Highly reliable at suppressing severe surface defects (cratering, pinholes, edge retraction) induced by substrate contamination (oil, grease, fingerprints).
Defoaming Wetting Character: Unlike conventional silicone wetting agents that act as foam stabilizers, NV-DF4100 has additional defoaming and deairentraining properties, promoting micro-foam release.
No Intercoat Adhesion Defect: Its unique chemical layout prevents the formation of a slippery slip-layer, completely preserving multi-layer recoatability and intercoat adhesion.
Universal Waterborne Compatibility: Offers robust processing stability across a broad pH spectrum and maintains uniform efficiency across wide application temperatures.
Recommended Applications
Water-based Industrial Coatings: Automotive OEM and refinish coatings, industrial wood and furniture lacquers, and topcoats for plastics and domestic appliances.
High-Speed Printing Inks & OPVs: Waterborne flexographic, gravure, and high-resolution packaging inkjet inks applied over slip-treated or untreated plastic films (PE, PP, PET).
Wood Coatings: Prevents crawling and ensures deep pore wetting in water-borne wood stains and clear topcoats.
Radiation-Cured Systems: Highly compatible in UV-curable and electron-beam (EB) waterborne formulations.
Formulation Guide & Usage Level:
Recommended Dosage: Typically added at 0.1% to 1.0% based on the total weight of the formulation.
For high-gloss transparent clear coats, 0.1% to 0.3% is usually sufficient. For heavily contaminated substrates or highly resinated inks, loading can be safely increased up to 0.5%–1.0%.
Incorporation Guide:
Pre-dilution in a suitable glycol co-solvent (such as Propylene Glycol) can be performed if the formulation viscosity is exceptionally high, which helps ease processing.
Handling & Precautions
Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated storage space away from direct heat sources.
