Product Description

The NV-DF110 Series consists of high-performance molecular defoamers built on proprietary acetylenic diol chemistry. Unlike conventional mineral oil or silicone-based defoamers, NV-DF110 works through a unique surface-tension-driven mechanism. It actively disrupts foam lamellae and destabilizes micro-foam (entrained air) without causing surface defects such as fish-eyes, cratering, pinholes, or loss of adhesion.

Key Benefits:

Efficient Knockdown Defoaming: Destroys macro-foam rapidly and provides sustained micro-foam prevention initially and after aging.

No Surface Defects: Being 100% silicone-free and mineral oil-free, it avoids the traditional incompatibility, haze, or film flaws common to standard defoamers.

High Shear Stability: Performs exceptionally well under high-shear milling or spraying environments, preventing air entrainment that can compromise grinding efficiency.

Microbial Resistance: The water-free composition ensures excellent shelf life and prevents internal microbial degradation.

Compatibility: Does not cause printing plate defects (e.g., will not swell photopolymer plates in flexo printing).

Recommended Applications:

Water-based Printing Inks & Pigment Dispersions: Highly effective during high-shear pigment milling/grinding to minimize grind times and maximize dispersion density. Also ideal for final letdown stages for long-lasting foam control.

Water-based Coatings: Eliminates micro-foam in architectural, industrial wood, and protective metal coatings without inducing craters or fish-eyes.

Concrete & Construction Systems: Excellent air-entrainment control in ready-mix, precast, grouts, and mortars to achieve targeted freeze-thaw stability and slump properties.

Synthetic Metalworking Lubricants: Controls foam generated by high-speed milling and fluid circulation.

Additional Applications: Fountain solutions, paper coatings, ceramic slurries, and systems containing proteins or phosphate esters as foam-stabilizers

Formulation Guide & Usage Level:

General Recommendation: NV-DF110 is typically added between 0.1% and 1.0% based on the total formulation weight.

Pigment Grinding Stage: For maximum processing efficiency, add 0.2% to 1.0% directly to the grind paste prior to high-shear milling to prevent air incorporation.

Concrete Systems: In ready-mix operations, use 0.02%–0.1% by weight of cement. For virtual elimination of entrained air in precast operations, target 0.05% – 0.15% by weight of cement.

Incorporation: While insoluble in pure water, it disperses readily in complex aqueous formulations containing other surface-active components, binders, or solvents. Standard, thorough mechanical agitation is sufficient for incorporation.

Handling & Precautions

NV-DF110 Solid: May require mild pre-heating or dissolving into a suitable co-solvent/surfactant matrix before incorporation depending on formulation setup.

NV-DF110 Liquid: Low-viscosity, easy-to-pour liquid solution at room conditions. Thoroughly mix or stir containers before use to ensure absolute chemical uniformity.

Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated storage space away from direct heat source.
