Product Description:

The TMDD Series (based on 2,4,7,9-tetramethyl-5-decyne-4,7-diol) is a high-performance, non-ionic gemini surfactant - defoaming wetting agent, specifically designed for waterborne coating systems. It is specifically engineered to provide a unique balance of dynamic wetting and molecular defoaming in waterborne systems. Unlike traditional surfactants, TMDD reduces surface tension without generating excessive foam, often allowing for the reduction or elimination of additional Defoamers.

Dynamic Wetting: Provides exceptionally low surface tension under high-speed application conditions (spraying, rolling, printing).

Molecular Defoaming: Effectively controls and eliminates micro-foam and macro-foam without causing surface defects like fish-eyes or craters.

Surface Perfection: Improves flow and leveling while reducing pinholes, sissings, and crawling.

Stability: Chemically stable across a wide pH range (3–11) and thermally stable across broad temperatures.

Non-Sensitive: Reduces water sensitivity in the final dried film compared to conventional surfactants.

Coatings: Industrial maintenance, wood coatings, and overprint varnishes.

Printing Inks: Water-based flexographic and offset inks.

Adhesives: Pressure-sensitive and carpet backing adhesives.

Metalworking: Cooling lubricants and plating bath additives.

Agrochemicals: Wettable powders and flowable pesticide systems.

Usage & Handling

Dosage: 0.1% – 2.0% of total formulation weight. A ladder study is recommended for optimization.

Addition order: Maintain adequate stirring for 15–30 minutes. For best results, add TMDD after other polymers or surfactants to ensure maximum dissolution.

Pigment wetting: If solids/pigments are used, add TMDD before the solids to assist in wetting and foam control during dispersion.

Storage: In cold temperatures, liquid versions may crystallize; warm to the melt point and agitate before use.
