Product Description

The NV-AD420/440/450/465 Series consists of multifunctional nonionic surfactants engineered around acetylenic diol chemistry. By reacting precise ratios of ethylene oxide with the base molecule, the hydrophile-lipophile balance (HLB) is strategically modified. This chemical flexibility allows formulators to select a grade that seamlessly balances excellent surface-wetting properties with highly controlled, low-to-zero foaming behavior.

Key Benefits

Low Dynamic Surface Tension: Extremely rapid molecular migration to newly formed interfaces prevents film retraction, crawling, and surface defects (such as fisheyes and pinholes) during high-speed printing, spraying, or roller applications.

Defoaming & Low-Foaming Wetting: NV-AD420 and AD440 function as nonfoaming or active defoaming agents. NV-AD450 and AD465 provide strong wetting with minimal, highly fragile foam generation.

High Electrolyte Tolerance: Maintains superb performance, coverage, and stability in formulations containing high ionic strengths, brines, and heavy acid/electrolyte concentrations.

Substrate Penetration: Significantly enhances the rapid penetration of liquids into absorbent matrixes or onto poorly cleaned, oily, or low-energy substrates.

Recommended Applications

Printing Inks: Improves substrate coverage in water-borne flexo, gravure, and inkjet inks on low-energy plastic stocks (e.g., slip-treated polypropylene) without inducing foam.

Industrial Coatings: Ensures defect-free wetting and excellent flow/leveling over metals, wood, and plastic substrates.

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives (PSA): Facilitates clean wet-out over silicone release liners and plastic films with minimal to no water-sensitivity trade-offs in the dried film.

Metalworking Lubricants: NV-AD465 excels at dispersing metal fines and enhancing wetting during cutting and grinding operations , while lower EO variants enhance extreme pressure properties and defoaming.

Fountain Solutions: Mid-to-high HLB grades (AD440, AD450, AD465) provide targeted wetting in lithographic printing to sharply segment image areas without ink emulsification.

Agricultural Formulations: Optimizes leaf coverage, wetting, and soil penetration for pesticide flowables and wettable powders.

Recommended Usage Level:

Typically added between 0.1% and 2.0% based on the total weight of the formulated system.

Note: A loading ladder study is highly recommended to pinpoint the optimal concentration for your target application.

Handling & Precautions

All grades are low-viscosity liquids at standard room conditions and do not require high-shear equipment to break down or mix.

Thoroughly stir or agitate containers before drawing material to guarantee uniform consistency.

Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated storage environment.
