Product name:Silicone Defoamer for Pigmented Waterborne Coatings & Pigment Concentrates

Product code: NV-DF 9046

Active Ingredients:Mixture of Foam-Breaking Polysiloxanes and Hydrophobic Particles in Polyethylene Glycol

Product Description

NV-DF9046 is a highly effective silicone defoamer formulated with foam-breaking polysiloxanes and hydrophobic particles in a polyethylene glycol medium.

It is designed for effective foam control in pigmented waterborne coatings and color paste systems. NV-DF9046 provides good defoaming and antifoaming performance and is particularly suitable for addition during the grinding process of water-based color pastes.

The product is suitable for a variety of waterborne polymer and resin systems, including styrene-acrylic systems, pure acrylic emulsions, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and water-based epoxy systems.

Typical propertes:

Appearance: Slightly turbid liquid

Non-volatile Matter (wt%): 90%-100%

Viscosity (at 25℃): 100 - 1000 cPs

Density (at 20℃, g/cm³): 0.97-1.01

Ionic Character: Non-ionic

Dispersibility :Self-emulsifying / Dispersible in waterborne media & glycol solvents

Key Benefits & Features

100% Active: Highly concentrated silicone defoamer for efficient foam control.

Excellent Defoaming & Antifoaming Performance: Provides effective foam reduction and helps suppress foam regeneration.

Excellent Grinding Performance: Particularly suitable for addition during the grinding process of water-based color pastes.

Good Compatibility: Provides effective foam control with good compatibility in pigmented waterborne formulations.

Broad Resin Compatibility: Suitable for styrene-acrylic, pure acrylic, PVA and water-based epoxy systems.

High-Shear Compatibility: Suitable for incorporation under high-shear processing conditions.

Applications

NV-DF9046 is recommended for foam control in the following applications:

Water-Based Color Paste Grinding

Styrene-Acrylic Systems

Pure Acrylic Emulsions

Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) Systems

Water-Based Epoxy Systems

Other pigmented waterborne coating formulations where effective foam control is required.

Application Guide

The recommended dosage of NV-DF9046 is generally 0.1–0.5% based on total formulation weight.

The optimum dosage should be determined through application testing according to the specific emulsion or resin system and processing conditions.

Grinding Stage

NV-DF9046 is particularly suitable for addition during the grinding stage of water-based color pastes and pigment dispersions.

Pre-Dilution

To improve mixing and incorporation efficiency, NV-DF9046 can be pre-diluted with a suitable solvent before addition.

The selection of solvent should be based on compatibility with the specific formulation.

Let-Down / Paint Mixing Stage

When NV-DF9046 is used during the ink or paint mixing stage, high-shear dispersion or pre-dilution is required to facilitate uniform incorporation.

The appropriate incorporation method should be confirmed according to the specific formulation and processing conditions.

Handling & Precautions

Because this product contains active hydrophobic solids, thorough agitation/stirring is mandatory before every use to guarantee an entirely homogeneous mixture.

Store in a well-ventilated dry workspace.

Storage:

Temperature Range: Keep stored within sealed factory containers between 5℃and 35. Avoid freezing conditions.

Shelf Life: Stable for up to 12 months from the date of chemical packaging under proper tightly closed conditions.
