Product name:Silicone Antifoam Compound for Polyurethane, Epoxy & Industrial Formulations

Product code: NV-DF 9038

Chemical Characterization:100% Silicone Antifoam Compound

Product Description

NV-DF9038 is a 100% active silicone antifoam compound composed of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and silica. It is designed for effective foam control at low addition levels and provides persistent antifoaming performance in a variety of industrial formulations.

NV-DF9038 is suitable for a variety of aqueous and non-aqueous systems where foam generation needs to be reduced or controlled. Its main application areas include pesticides, polyurethane, epoxy, acrylic, emulsified asphalt, petroleum extraction and refining, and cement mortar systems where foam generated during formulation, mixing or processing needs to be controlled.

The product can be incorporated into a formulation as a preventive foam-control component or added after foam has developed, depending on the specific application and process conditions.

Typical propertes:

Appearance: Off-white viscous liquid

Active Content (%):100%

Viscosity:500-3000cps

Key Benefits & Features

100% Active Compound: Contains no water or carrier phase and is supplied as a concentrated silicone antifoam compound.

Low Addition Levels: Designed to provide effective foam control at relatively low addition levels.

Persistent Foam Control: Provides durable foam-control performance under suitable application conditions.

Broad Formulation Compatibility: Suitable for use in selected aqueous and non-aqueous industrial formulations.

Flexible Application: Can be incorporated during formulation or added to an existing foaming system.

Applications

NV-DF9038 is recommended for foam control in the following applications:

Pesticide Formulations: Suitable for foam control during the formulation, mixing and processing of pesticide products.

Polyurethane Systems: Suitable for foam control during the processing and formulation of polyurethane-based materials.

Epoxy Systems: For controlling unwanted foam generated during mixing, formulation and processing of epoxy systems.

Acrylic Systems: Suitable for foam control in acrylic-based formulations and processing systems.

Emulsified Asphalt: Can be used to control foam during the preparation and processing of emulsified asphalt systems.

Petroleum Extraction & Refining: Suitable for foam control in selected petroleum extraction and refining processes.

Cement Mortar: Can be used in cement mortar and related cementitious formulations where foam control is required.

Application suitability and optimum dosage should be established according to the specific formulation and processing conditions.

Application Guide

Addition Method

NV-SiD 9038 can be added after foam has developed to knockdown existing foam, or incorporated during formulation as a preventive foam-inhibiting component.

- Non-Aqueous Systems: NV-SiD 9038 can be predispersed in organic solvents such as 2-ethylhexanol, naphtha, kerosene, toluene, or similar aromatic/aliphatic solvents prior to addition.

- Water-Based Applications: For aqueous systems, predispersing the product in a compatible polar solvent (e.g., alcohol-based carrier) or pre-mixing it into one of the formulation's existing liquid components is recommended prior to final addition.

- Dispersion & Addition Point: For optimal performance, the product should preferably be added at a location where adequate mixing and homogeneous dispersion can be achieved.

Recommended Dosage

The typical addition level is: 0.01–1.0% based on the total formulation weight.

The optimum dosage depends on the formulation composition, processing conditions, foam characteristics and required foam-control performance.

Laboratory testing is recommended to determine the appropriate dosage before commercial application.

Formulation & Dispersion

NV-DF9038 should be adequately dispersed throughout the formulation to achieve consistent foam-control performance.

The appropriate addition point and mixing conditions should be selected according to the specific application.

For systems with complex formulations, it is recommended to evaluate:

Foam reduction

Foam persistence

Compatibility with the formulation

Dispersion behavior

Effect on final product appearance

Handling & Precautions

Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. Wear protective gloves and safety goggles during handling.

Ensure adequate ventilation in the operating area.

Clean up spills immediately with absorbent materials to prevent slip hazards.

Do not add strong acids, alkalis, or inorganic salts directly into the neat emulsion container.
