Product Description

NV-MQ901 is a methyl MQ silicone resin with a three-dimensional, Si–O–based resin structure consisting of M [(CH3)3SiO1/2] and Q [SiO4/2] units. The M/Q ratio can be adjusted to provide different balances of hardness, film formation, compatibility, and reinforcement performance.

NV-MQ901 is available in two M/Q ratio grades, 0.80 and 0.68, and is designed for use in silicone-based coatings, protective formulations, release formulations, and silicone elastomer systems where thermal stability, hydrophobicity, film formation, and resin reinforcement are required.

Key Benefits & Features

High Thermal Stability: Provides good thermal resistance for silicone-based systems used in elevated-temperature applications.

Film Formation & Durability: Forms durable, cohesive films and contributes to surface protection, weatherability, and environmental resistance in selected silicone-based coating formulations.

Hydrophobicity: Enhances water repellency and surface protection in silicone-based coatings and surface-treatment formulations.

Resin Reinforcement: Acts as a reinforcing resin in selected silicone elastomer systems, contributing to improved hardness, tensile strength, tear resistance, and cohesive strength.

Release Performance: Can be incorporated into selected silicone-based release formulations to provide durable film formation and controlled release characteristics.

Formulation Versatility: Available in different M/Q ratios to provide flexibility in adjusting hardness, compatibility, film properties, and reinforcement performance according to formulation requirements.

Applications

High-Temperature & Electrical Insulation Coatings: Used in selected silicone-based high-temperature coatings, electrical insulation systems, and protective formulations, including applications for Class H electrical equipment.

Water-Repellent & Protective Coatings: Suitable for silicone-based waterproofing, water-repellent, and protective coating formulations requiring hydrophobicity and environmental resistance.

Outdoor Protective Coatings: Used in selected protective coatings for outdoor signs, decorative surfaces, and other applications requiring weatherability and surface protection.

Release Formulations: Used as a film-forming and performance-modifying component in selected silicone-based release formulations for plastic, rubber, composite, and other molding applications.

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Systems: May be used as a resin component or release-force modifier in selected silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesive formulations. Compatibility and adhesive performance should be evaluated for the specific formulation.

Silicone Rubber Reinforcement: Used as a reinforcing resin in selected silicone elastomer formulations to improve hardness, tensile strength, tear resistance, and cohesive strength. Suitable formulations may provide good transparency in clear silicone systems.

Application Guide

Incorporation Methods

Thermal Incorporation:

For solvent-free systems, NV-MQ901 may be incorporated under controlled heating above its softening range with adequate agitation. Avoid localized overheating and prolonged exposure to excessive temperatures.

Solvent Dilution:

For solvent-based systems, NV-MQ901 can be dissolved or dispersed in compatible aromatic hydrocarbons, cyclic siloxanes, or other suitable solvents prior to incorporation.

Typical compatible media include D5, selected PDMS fluids, 120# solvent oil, toluene, and xylene.

Recommended Dosage

Typical dosage range: 1.0–20.0 wt%, based on total formulation.

The optimum dosage depends on the application, base polymer, M/Q ratio, desired hardness, film properties, reinforcement level, and other formulation components. Laboratory evaluation is recommended to determine the appropriate dosage for each specific application.

Handling & Precautions

Handle the product in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices.

Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with skin.

Avoid generating excessive dust during handling, mixing, or transfer.

Ensure adequate ventilation when handling the product, particularly during formulation and processing.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, protective gloves, and suitable work clothing.

Keep the container tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination and moisture absorption.
