Chemical Information

Main component: Methylhydrosiloxane-dimethylsiloxane copolymers,TMS Terminated

Cas No.:68037-59-2

Molecular Structure:(CH3)3Si-O-((CH3)2Si-O)n-((CH3)Si(H)-O)m-Si(CH3)3

Product Description

This product is a trimethylsiloxy-terminated methylhydrosiloxane-dimethylsiloxane copolymer. It features reactive hydrogen atoms distributed randomly or regularly along the silicone backbone, while the chain ends are chemically inert. It serves as an excellent crosslinker for addition-cure silicone systems and a highly efficient hydrophobic treatment agent.

Key Benefits & Features

High Crosslinking Density: Multiple reactive Si-H sites along the polymer chain provide robust crosslinking networks.

Excellent Hydrophobicity: Forms a durable, water-repellent barrier upon curing or surface treatment.

Good Stability: Inert TMS end-groups ensure reliable shelf life and minimize unwanted side reactions during storage.

Viscosity Versatility: Available in a wide range of molecular weights and hydrogen contents to fine-tune cured properties.

Applications

Crosslinkers:Primary crosslinking agent for addition-cure liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and high-consistency rubber (HCR).

Waterproofing Agents: Surface treatment for powders (e.g., cosmetic pigments, TiO2), gypsum boards, building materials, and textiles.

Release Coatings: Component in paper and film release modifier formulations.

Handling & Precautions

Hydrogen Evolution: These products contain active Si-H bonds which can react with water, alcohols, acids, bases, or metal salts to release hydrogen gas. Ensure containers are opened carefully to vent any potential pressure build-up.

Contamination Control: Avoid contact with "platinum poisons" such as compounds containing sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), and heavy metal salts (e.g., tin, lead). Contamination can inhibit the catalytic activity in downstream addition-cure applications.

Ventilation & Safety: Use only in well-ventilated areas. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves, to prevent skin and eye irritation.

Avoid Ignition Sources: Hydrogen gas is highly flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and static discharge. Use non-sparking tools during handling.

Moisture Sensitivity: Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use. Exposure to atmospheric moisture can lead to a gradual loss of active hydride content.

Packaging & Shelf Life

Packaging: Available in 25 kg plastic pails, 200 kg plastic-lined steel drums, or 1000 kg IBC tanks. Custom packaging is available upon request.

Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep containers upright and shielded from direct sunlight and rain. Recommended storage temperature: 5°C – 30°C.

Shelf Life: The standard shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in the original, unopened containers.

Post-Shelf Life Use: Products exceeding the shelf life should be re-tested for Si-H content and appearance before use to ensure they still meet the required specifications.
