Product name : Silicone fluid NV-SIH-EH-*

Alias:End Hydride silicone fluid; Hydrogen terminated silicone fluid; Hydride terminated silicone fluid

Product Code:NV-SIH-EH-*

Chemical Information

Main component:Polysiloxanes di-Me hydride-terminated

Cas No.:70900-21-9

Molecular Structure:H-Si(CH3)2-O-(Si(CH3)2-O)n-Si(CH3)2-H

Product Description

This product is a linear polydimethylsiloxane terminated at both chain ends with reactive silicon-hydride Si-H groups. Because the reactive sites are strictly located at the molecular termini, it acts as an ideal chain extender or block copolymer intermediate, providing precise control over network structure and flexibility.

Key Benefits & Features

Linear Chain Extension: Reacts at the ends to increase molecular weight without premature gelation or excessive crosslinking.

Enhanced Flexibility & Softness: Imparts superior elongation and lower modulus to the cured elastomer compared to side-chain hydrosiloxanes.

Precise Reactivity: Predictable stoichiometry with two reactive sites per molecule, perfect for well-defined polymer synthesis.

Applications

Chain Extenders: Used in addition-cure silicone rubbers to adjust crosslink density, improving tear strength and elongation.

Synthesis Intermediates: Precursor for modifying organic polymers (e.g., polyurethanes, epoxies) via hydrosilylation to introduce silicone properties.

Silicone Gels: Crucial component in formulating soft, shock-absorbing silicone gels and encapsulation materials for electronics.

Handling & Precautions

Hydrogen Evolution: These products contain active Si-H bonds which can react with water, alcohols, acids, bases, or metal salts to release hydrogen gas. Ensure containers are opened carefully to vent any potential pressure build-up.

Contamination Control: Avoid contact with "platinum poisons" such as compounds containing sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), and heavy metal salts (e.g., tin, lead). Contamination can inhibit the catalytic activity in downstream addition-cure applications.

Ventilation & Safety: Use only in well-ventilated areas. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves, to prevent skin and eye irritation.

Avoid Ignition Sources: Hydrogen gas is highly flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and static discharge. Use non-sparking tools during handling.

Moisture Sensitivity: Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use. Exposure to atmospheric moisture can lead to a gradual loss of active hydride content.

Packaging & Shelf Life

Packaging: Available in 25 kg plastic pails, 200 kg plastic-lined steel drums, or 1000 kg IBC tanks. Custom packaging is available upon request.

Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep containers upright

and shielded from direct sunlight and rain. Recommended storage temperature: 5°C – 30°C.

Shelf Life: The standard shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in the original, unopened containers.

Post-Shelf Life Use: Products exceeding the shelf life should be re-tested for Si-H content and appearance before use to ensure they still meet the required specifications.
