INCI name : Bis-Cetearyl amodimethicone
Model: NV-PC413
Chemical Information:
Main Composition: Siloxanes and Silicones, di-Me, 3-[(2-aminoethyl)amino]propyl-terminated, polymers with cetearyl alc.
Chemical Character:
Alkyl-Modified Amino-Functional Silicone. This is a block copolymer where the amino-functional silicone backbone is terminated or modified with long-chain fatty alcohols (Cetearyl groups). This structure combines the cationic conditioning of amino-silicones with the lubricating properties of fatty alcohols.
Cas No.:1126942-72-0
Product Description:
NV-PC413 is a sophisticated, high-viscosity silicone polymer. By incorporating fatty alcohol groups directly into the amino-silicone structure, it provides enhanced deposition efficiency and superior lubricity. It is specifically engineered to provide a "premium feel" to hair, delivering intensive softness and a hydrophobic protective layer that mimics the hair's natural lipids (18-MEA).
Typical Properties:
Appearance:Clear to hazy, viscous liquid
Viscosity (25°C):4500 – 10,000 cSt
Amine Content:0.1% – 0.5%
Refractive index (25°C): 1.405 – 1.415
Specific Gravity (25°C):0.950-0.980
Flash Point (Closed cup):>100°C
Key Benefits & Features:
Synergistic Conditioning: Combines the benefits of amino-silicones (repair) and fatty alcohols (slip) in a single molecule.
Intense Softness: Provides a unique, "velvety" or "cushiony" feel to the hair fiber.
Exceptional Detangling: Reduces friction in both wet and dry states, preventing mechanical damage during combing.
Lipid Replenishment: Helps restore the hydrophobic nature of damaged hair, acting as a surrogate for lost natural oils.
Volume Control: Effectively manages frizz and flyaways without causing excessive limpness or heaviness.
Heat Protection: Forms a durable film that shields the hair shaft from the high temperatures of blow-dryers and flat irons.
Applications:
Premium Conditioners: High-end rinse-off products for dry, damaged, or color-treated hair.
2-in-1 Shampoos: Formulations requiring simultaneous cleaning and conditioning (using APG emulsification).
Hair Treatment Serums: Concentrated formulas for split-end repair.
Color Lock Systems: Used to seal the cuticle and prevent pigment leaching.
Smoothing Creams: Leave-on styling products for long-lasting frizz control.
Formulation Guide:
Incorporation Methods:
For Conditioners & Serums: Typically added to the oil phase (emulsified) or used in anhydrous (oil-based) systems. It is recommended to dilute with low viscosity silicone fluids prior to addition.
For 2-in-1 Shampoos: Pre-emulsify with a nonionic surfactant (such as APG) before adding to the formula.
Processing Temperature:
Conditioners: Can be processed at temperatures up to 75°C during the melting phase of fatty alcohols/emulsifiers.
Shampoos: Add into the formulation at approximately 40°C to ensure stability.
General: Can also be added at room temperature by stirring if pre-diluted properly.
Stability: Highly stable in O/W emulsions when paired with non-ionic or cationic emulsifiers.
Cationic Nature: Works best in acidic environments (pH 4.0–5.5) to maximize the "anchoring" effect of the amino groups to the hair.
Recommended Usage Level:
Daily Conditioners: 0.5% – 3.0%
Intensive Hair Masks: 2.0% – 5.0%
Leave-in Serums/Oils: 1.0% – 3.0%
2-in-1 Shampoos:0.2% – 2.0%
Handling & Precautions:
Store in a cool, well-ventilated area.
Avoid prolonged exposure to air to prevent oxidation and color shift.
Wear appropriate protective gear (gloves and goggles) during mixing.
